Surgical orthodontics is a combined treatment by an orthodontist and an oral surgeon to correct jaw-size discrepancies.  These discrepancies usually include severe malocclusion or bad bites, and jaw-size abnormalities in non-growing adults. Surgical orthodontics is usually a great option when improvement of facial profile or facial esthetics is desired, but not possible through orthodontics alone.  It’s also beneficial for adults with sleep apnea and may produce a more significant long-term improvement and eliminate or minimize the need for CPAP machine.

The orthodontist initially places braces and aligns the teeth within the jawbone; then the oral surgeon positions the jaws into an ideal position to allow the bite to come together and to achieve the best facial and esthetic balance.

Dr. Gen will work with an oral surgeon to ensure that if you need surgical orthodontics, you will receive the best care possible.
